Tape Studies, 2018/2020
The work Tape Studies consists of photographs taken at Duisburg Central Station since 2018. Built between the years 1931 and 1934 in functionalist style, the then ultra-modern track hall, a floating construction of steel and glass, appears today in desolate condition. The glass facades of the platform structure are largely damaged and patched with adhesive tape. This creates graphic patterns that seem like an enigmatic, independent system of signs. Tape Studies is a photographic approach to this place between transformation and stagnation. A photograph from the series Tape Studies was shown as part of the exhibition Sichten, a project in public space that was realized during the first Corona Lockdown in May 2020 in Bremen.
